about

On the 26th of April 2022, the world of electronic music suffered a tragedy in the death of the synth pioneer Klaus Schulze. An important influence to countless musicians, myself being one of them. In the wake of this, I created the first E-MACHINES album combining my Post Rock sound with, as accurate a rendition as possible, the Berlin School style Sequencers and Synthesizers of Klaus Schulze. Usually I use various synth styles but this time I wanted to imitate Schulze in tribute to his many decades of great electronic works.

In the year from then to now, I have further refined this method of composition no longer relying on imitation and tribute but instead creating my own style of Berlin School inspired Post Rock music. My use of Synthesizers has always been inspired by the classic 'Traditional' era with artists like Tangerine Dream and Ashra as well as Schulze. Another notable modern artist who has quoted these musicians as influences would be Lisa Bella Donna who has to be one of the greatest keyboardists alive. Her albums are always an escape away from reality and rather than write pieces of music that directly represent my personal hardships, I endeavour with this album to create for the listener what artists like her have created for me and thousands of others. A complete world to escape into. Things are usually more interesting that way.

I will continue my musical journey experimenting with all kinds of electronic stylings and genres. But for now, this is my entry into the Berlin School canon. My personal life has been chaos over the last couple of years or so, and I like many others have endured personal hardship whilst contending with these trying times. I suppose one of the many reasons for this style of music being such a comfort to me is that the chaotic Sequencers probably best represent how mad the world has become for many of us. Or maybe I am looking too far into it. Either way, between my shifts as a care assistant, I have been jamming and improvising away whenever I can find the time, finding ways to best express the madness that I have been feeling in the wake of uncertainty. This album is the direct result of those musings. I truly hope you find as much escapism and comfort as I did in making it...
