about

The combination of Post-Rock, Ambient, and Berlin School.

I genuinely cannot believe and am so happy at how successful this album has become. Some of the music on it is a few years old now back when I was just starting my YouTube channel. Back then I didn't have an analogue Synthesizer and I used nothing but software Synthesizers. During this time, I found a company called LFO Audio who make software synths made from 100 percent high quality sampled sounds taken from real analogue hardware Synthesizers. My favourite synth to listen to has always been the ARP Odyssey and I was overjoyed when I found that LFO Audio had a software synth dedicated to that beautiful Instrument.

One of my first series of videos that I made was a short amount of videos dedicated to that very software Instrument. This was probably the first selection of songs where I combined my usual Post Rock guitar sound with the Berlin School style of electronic music instead of just using synths for background or a Retrowave sound. The videos themselves shall we say, were not my best. But hey, I was just starting out. But the songs themselves were at the time some of my best and I had originally planned to make a full album dedicated to the ARP Odyssey but that never came to fruition.

Other songs on the album were also made for YouTube only this time on my newly acquired Korg Minilogue XD analogue Synthesizer and we're specifically designed to sound like the ARP Odyssey. Some of the synth patches I directly copied the parameters for directly from Korg's wonderfully accurate ARP Odyssey VST and sounded great. Once again I combined my Post Rock Guitars with these sounds only this time aided by the Minilogue's 16 step Sequencer and also made some single synth ambient tracks for YouTube that eventually made its way to this album.

When it came to putting this album together I realised that with all this material for YouTube that I had finally got my ARP Odyssey based album that I wanted almost without even realising. When I discovered this I spent about 2 weeks putting the tracks together, updating the mixes and track orders until I had something that I felt really told a story. This year has been quite rough for me for a variety of reasons so I picked the ones that really had an emotional resonance with me. A process I found to be quite interesting as my interpretation of the songs was now very different to when I originally wrote them so I got to experience this album as both composer and listener. I then named the tracks to how they made me feel due to the recent events in my life.

The Sustainable Truth was the only 'Brand new' track written and recorded with the albums overall theme in mind once again utilising the ARP Odyssey LFO Audio software synth with the Korg Minilogue XD together and really helped to round the tracks up together and make a more cohesive work. I did not expect great success but so far it seems to be most people's favourite album of mine so far and im so happy about this. And it would be remiss not to mention the absolutly astoundingly beautiful cover artwork by KiBelle that, much like the album itself, combines an overwhelming sense of minimalism with snippets of superb detail and fits the sound perfectly. One listener described it as 'Post Rock made in the Blade Runner Universe' and the views and other comments have been wonderful. People have really connected with this album and I truly thank you all...

Enjoy x
